DARIUS ANDERSON

Darius Anderson, the managing member of Kenwood Investments, LLC has a distinguished career in real estate, business and politics over the last twenty years. Darius has been involved in a variety of real estate development projects including River West Development in Sacramento, as Chief of Staff of The Yucaipa Companies, and as the Managing Member of Treasure Island Enterprises, LLC and Treasure Island Community Development, LLC.

Mr. Anderson founded Kenwood Investments in 1999 to pursue real estate development opportunities. Since then, Kenwood has managed entitlements for the redevelopment of Treasure Island, the Sacramento Docks, the Marketplace at Anaheim, El Cerrito BART Village, Urban America, and Hollywood Park.

Between 1993 and 1998, Darius Anderson served as Chief of Staff for The Yucaipa Companies, and as Vice President of External Affairs for Ralphs Grocery Stores, Inc., a Fortune 500 company. During that time, Darius Anderson was responsible for business development for The Yucaipa Companies, including property acquisition and development, and for government affairs, community relations, external corporate communications and public relations for Ralphs Grocery Stores. He also served as the Executive Director for the Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation.

Mr. Anderson is involved in a variety of charitable activities. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, the Robert Toigo Foundation, and the new Chair of the National Advisory Council at the Institute of Governmental Studies at University of California, Berkeley. He’s also active in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program and owns world-class collections of both baseball and Jack London memorabilia.

Darius Anderson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.


JAY WALLACE

Jay Wallace formed Kenwood Investments, LLC in 2000 with Darius Anderson. Mr. Wallace’s real estate experience spans over 20 years and now includes overseeing all of Kenwood Investments, LLC’s development projects. Prior to joining Kenwood Investments, Jay Wallace was a member of the law firms of Sanger & Olson, Coblentz, Cahen, McCabe & Breyer and the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, where he specialized in real estate entitlement, environmental and development law. Mr. Wallace’s legal career also included a successful litigation practice on behalf of public and private clients involving the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and other significant regulatory issues. Mr. Wallace has also previously served in a variety of political positions for numerous California politicians.

As a member of Kenwood Investments, LLC’s management, Mr. Wallace is responsible for entitlements, project feasibility, finance, design, project budgeting and delivery, negotiations with federal, state and local regulatory bodies, and community relations. Jay Wallace is also actively involved in new project acquisition and development. He has successfully negotiated over $1 billion in real estate transactions, including residential, retail and entertainment projects. Mr. Wallace has been the lead developer for Kenwood Investments, LLC’s Treasure Island redevelopment project.

Mr. Wallace currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Coalition, a consortium of public and private leaders in the Bay Area, and has previously served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Port Commission, Waterfront Land Use Board and the San Francisco Mission YMCA. Mr. Wallace is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR).

Jay Wallace earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Pitzer College, Los Angeles and a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco.


LEO MA

As Executive Vice President, Investments with Kenwood Investments, LLC, Leo Ma’s responsibilities include the implementation of investment strategies, including sourcing and underwriting investment opportunities, structuring and executing transactions, overseeing investments, implementing financing strategies, and managing lender, investor, and joint venture partner relationships. With 14 years of real estate experience, Mr. Ma has an extensive background in real estate development and investment.

Prior to joining Kenwood Investments, Mr. Ma was Vice President, Investments in the urban real estate group of MacFarlane Partners, a leading real estate investment management firm in the United States. While at MacFarlane Partners, Mr. Ma was responsible for structuring, underwriting, closing, and overseeing investments in complex, urban infill, mixed-use, development projects totaling over $3 billion in development costs. In addition to investments in development projects, Mr. Ma also led the acquisition of several real estate operating companies. Before MacFarlane Partners, Mr. Ma was Associate Vice President, Finance at Catellus Urban Development Corporation where he worked on the development of large-scale, master planned, urban infill projects such as the 303-acre Mission Bay project in San Francisco, California.

Mr. Ma’s experience also includes work as a Project Director for Classic Residence by Hyatt, work in real estate market assessment and analysis, and work as an architect with several architecture and planning firms. He is a licensed architect in California and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Leo Ma holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management.


MIKE BUCKLEY

Mike Buckley joined Kenwood Investments in December 2007 after spending many years in private banking and finance.

Mr. Buckley manages the accounting and financial oversight at GBC. Before joining the Gold Bridge team, Mike worked for a San Francisco start-up company in the private student loan industry. Prior to that, he spent ten years working in the banking industry for World Savings Bank, now Wachovia Corporation. While at World Savings Bank he was the Senior Vice President of Accounting and Finance, overseeing corporate financial reporting, corporate financial planning and analysis, and treasury operations and accounting.

Before entering the private banking industry, Mike Buckley worked as a public accountant with Ernst & Young. While there, he obtained his CPA license and gained exposure to multiple accounting and finance industries.

Mike is an avid golfer, skier, and snowboarder.

Mr. Buckley is a graduate of The University of South Florida.


BRAD WELCH

Brad Welch joined Kenwood Investments, LLC in 2006. He has a background in land acquisitions and environmental policy. Mr. Welch’s responsibilities as part of the Kenwood Team include property acquisition, entitlement processing, project management, and compiling assumptions for preparation of feasibility proformas. He is actively involved in project management for the proposed redevelopment of Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa, as well as various other existing projects in Kenwood’s pipeline. Mr. Welch also plays a critical role in sourcing new acquisition opportunities.

Prior to joining Kenwood Investments, Mr. Welch worked in the Land Acquisition Department for Christopherson Homes, Inc. – Northbay Division in Santa Rosa, California. While there he was responsible for identifying and bringing to market potential residential land for use by the Christopherson Homes building operation. Mr. Welch gathered feasibility assumption data pertinent to processing of potential future residential projects. His responsibilities included understanding community ordinances, zoning, general plan policy, environmental considerations, and special building, engineering and planning requirements for processing of residential subdivision maps. He also coordinated with site engineering, construction, and sales and marketing to ensure consistency between work product and pertinent entitlement agreements.

Before working with Christopherson Homes, Mr. Welch was an independent environmental consultant specializing in resource conservation planning in Sonoma County acting as a planning and mitigation liaison between the development community and the regulatory agencies.

Brad Welch holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning from the University of Washington in Seattle. He is an active member of NAHB and HBA.


BETHANY FISCHER

Bethany J. Fischer has a background in economic development and government relations. Her responsibilities at Kenwood Investments, LLC include property acquisition, entitlements, project management, negotiations with federal, state and local regulatory bodies and legislative affairs. She is the project lead for the development of the Marketplace at Anaheim and the Sacramento Docks Area, a 23 acre waterfront site in downtown Sacramento, and the new downtown redevelopment in Hesperia, California.

Miss Fischer served as an Executive Fellow assigned to the California Technology, Trade and Commerce Agency, the primary state agency charged with economic development, international trade and military base retention and reuse. Her Fellowship research was focused in the area of streamlining state and local government programs related to military base retention and reuse for the economic benefit of California communities. At the conclusion of her Fellowship, Miss Fischer served in the Executive Office as the Special Assistant to the Undersecretary and Chief Counsel of the Agency. In 2002, Ms. Fischer moved to Platinum Advisors, LLC, a separate company owned by Mr. Anderson that is one of the State of California’s leading state and local government affairs and legislative policy firms, where she began her long collaboration with Messrs. Anderson and Wallace.

In addition to her work in Sacramento and now in San Francisco, Miss Fischer is an active member of the San Francisco Junior League, the Young Leaders Group of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR). She also serves as the Secretary and Treasurer on the board of the Aquarium of the Bay Foundation, an education and conservation organization dedicated to the San Francisco Bay.

Bethany Fischer graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of San Diego and is a candidate for a Masters degree in Business Administration with the University of California, Berkeley – Columbia University Executive MBA Program (2007).


SHELBY WATTS

Shelby Watts directs and manages the communications and marketing efforts for both GBC and Kenwood Investments. She has held the position since 2007.

Ms. Watts began her career with the US Department of Commerce. She then moved to the Republican National Committee where she served as the Director of Volunteer Deployment during the 2004 Presidential Re-election Campaign. Immediately following, she served as the Managing Director of George H.W. Bush’s requests at the 2005 Presidential Inauguration.

Ms. Watts served as the Public Affairs Advisor to the Europe and Eurasia Bureau at the Agency for International Development (USAID), the lead US government agency providing United States foreign assistance to developing countries around the world.

While at USAID, she spent time writing and filming documentaries in both Central and Eastern Europe on development programs. She was also instrumental in organizing international political and economic conferences.

Shelby enjoys traveling to offbeat locations, practices yoga regularly and is currently training for a triathlon.
